Our Programs
Mobile Pantry
The Mobile Pantry is another way for us to get out and directly interact with those in need. It is another newer program that started in October of 2007. We load up our truck with goods and go to different distressed communities throughout Lake and Porter Counties that do not have access to a traditional food pantry to distribute free food. We have many volunteers who assist us in setting up and passing out the food as well as cleaning up afterwords. Like with the Community Cupboard, clients get to choose what items they want since we do not pre-bag anything. The Mobile Pantry is usually held on Saturdays between 8:30 a.m. and noon. We try to offer the service two to three times a month, and service between 150 and 300 families at each event. Our current dates and locations are listed below. We will continue to update this list as more dates are confirmed.
