Local Credit Unions are Spreading the Love this Summer!
Release Date - Jul 30, 2013
Credit unions across the region have teamed up to Spread the Love this summer by collecting donations of peanut butter and other non-perishable food items through August 31st. This collaborative effort hopes to receive at least 3,000 jars that will be sent to the Food Bank during Hunger Action Month in September. The public is welcome to make donations at any of the ten participating credit unions listed below.
“In today’s business environment, it’s a little surprising that competing companies would join forces to take care of their community.” remarks JoLynn Ellis, Members Source Credit Union. “However, the credo shared by all credit unions is ‘People Helping People,’ and that’s evident in this campaign.”
Michele Mihal, Midwest Carpenters & Millwrights Federal Credit Union, adds, “Collecting 3,000 jars is a lofty goal. We’re going to need help from our neighbors, even if they’re not credit union members. It’s likely that people drive past at least one credit union on their way home from the grocery store. A quick stop at a credit union’s donation box can make a meaningful impact on the families we’re trying to help.”
The Northwest Indiana Chapter of the Indiana Credit Union League is comprised of local credit unions that meet regularly to exchange information, offer continuing industry education, and promote the welfare of its community. Donations for the Spread the Love campaign can be made at the following credit unions: Members Source (Merrillville, Griffith, Munster); Midwest Family (Portage); TECH (Crown Point, Merrillville, Gary, Lowell, Valparaiso); GESB Sheet Metal Workers (Portage); Great Horizons (Munster); Northern Indiana (Merrillville); ProFinance (Merrillville); US #1364 (Merrillville, Gary, Valparaiso, Portage); Midwest Carpenters & Millwrights (Hobart); Local 697 (Merrillville).« News Listings
