FFA and Farm Bureau Join Forces to Fight Hunger

The Lowell Future Farmers of America and Lake County Farm Bureau, Inc. and Insurance are joining together to help fight hunger in Lake County. They will be conducting a food drive the week of Feb. 17th-22nd. Your food donations can be dropped off at Lowell High School or any of the five Farm Bureau Insurance offices in Lake County. They are located at 194 Deanna Drive in Lowell; 2008 N. Main in Crown Point; 1703 E. 37th Ave. in Hobart; and 2118 45th St. in Highland; 2145 U.S Hwy 41 in Schererville.
The food drive coincides with National FFA Week which gives member a chance to educate the public about agriculture. During the week chapters host teacher appreciation breakfast, conduct “Ag Olympics” competitions, speak to the public about agriculture, volunteer for community services projects and more. Lowell High School is the only chapter active in Lake County.
The same week is also Farm Bureau’s “Food Check Out Week.” Tips for better nutrition on a stretched budget, making sense of food labels and understand USDA’s MyPlate guidelines will be available at the drop off locations.« News Listings
