Commodity Supplemental Food Program Open Enrollment
Senior Hunger Relief Program – open to seniors in Lake and Porter Counties.

March 17, 2015 (Gary, IN) –  The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, in conjunction with partner agencies, USDA and the Indiana State Department of Health will be holding open enrollment for the CSFP Program, a senior-focused hunger relief program in Lake and Porter Counties.
Low-income seniors, above the age of 60 years old and residents of Lake or Porter Counties can enroll in the program. CSFP is a federally funded program, which works to improve the health of elderly people by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA commodity foods.
Each CSFP box contains approximately 40 pounds of food, including high protein items, grains, vegetables, fruit, juices and shelf stable milk. Eligible seniors who meet the age, residential and income guidelines will take part in certification interviews at the following locations at the designated times. Residents of Lake County should only attend a Lake County enrollment and Porter County residents should only attend Porter County enrollment. There is limited availability and the program is first-come-first-serve.

Seniors planning to enroll at one of the above locations and times must bring photo ID, birth certificate, proof of residency and income verification (i.e. paystub, SSI award letters, etc).


The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana is funded in part with federal funds and 28% of its program expenses federally financed from Indiana Department of Health, Indiana Department of Education and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture.
